Stuttering man who is shy impresses judges with an unheard-of voice and receives a golden buzzer

Although it is a beautiful art form, classical opera is unquestionably difficult. Yes, the performer must have a good voice, but that is only the beginning. Additionally, he must possess the instinctive ability to develop his undeveloped talent into something truly exceptional. And on this episode of Britain’s Got Talent, 22-year-old Gruffydd Roberts gave an example of just that.

In front of the judges during his BGT audition, the shy-appearing Welshman appeared overwhelmed by the size of the audience. Later, Gruffydd recalled being “very, very nervous” before his audition. As I sang, I could feel my legs trembling.

Simon asked Gruffydd to provide some background information for him. Gruffydd proudly proclaimed his Welsh nationality and residence with his grandmother. At this point, Simon halted him and inquired about his parents.

The candidate was extremely shocked by this question. While attempting to explain why he had never had parents, Gruffydd became visibly upset and started to stutter. He probably found it difficult to unwind before the serious audition because of these additional feelings.

Simon turned on the music and wished him luck. As Gruffydd inhaled deeply and started to sing, his friends in the audience applauded him. Although his anxiety and emotion were very apparent, he also had a clear operatic talent underneath the anxiety. But there was something missing.

The music continued for a few bars before Simon raised his hand to signal an end. Given how anxious you are, Gruffydd, I want to tell you something, Simon said. For me, it felt very chilly and mechanical. There seems to be more to it, in my opinion. For a moment, I want you to unwind. Simon gives Gruffydd a second chance to sing another song—a chance Simon doesn’t frequently give. When a new song begins, the host offers Gruffydd a glass of water, and he immediately appears to unwind.

The moment Gruffydd opened his mouth to sing “Nessun Dorma,” his friends held their breath. This time, the distinction was clear. The listeners could tell that he was singing from his soul this time. As the song continued, the audience’s feelings became more visceral and intensified. Even a few people had tears running down their faces. As he reached the song’s conclusion, the audience cheered and stood to their feet.

All four judges applauded, and when one judge slammed the Golden Buzzer, the audience erupted. A tearful Gruffydd almost immediately finds himself surrounded by happy loved ones.
